Azure Global Infrastructure

Making the world’s largest cloud feel human

https://datacenters.microsoft.com/globe/explore/

We developed a system of 3D storytelling to bring film, digital, social and other assets to life, telling the broad reaching story of how Azure is changing the world.

The challenge

Azure is one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world—spanning 70+ regions and hundreds of datacenters globally .

But the story behind that scale wasn’t landing.

Information about Azure’s investments, innovation, and global reach lived across disconnected channels.

The result:

  • Fragmented messaging

  • Low awareness of infrastructure leadership

  • A story too complex for most audiences to engage with

The problem wasn’t lack of content—it was lack of clarity and cohesion.

The insight

People don’t understand infrastructure through specs.
They understand it through systems and stories.

If Azure’s footprint is global, the experience should feel global.
If the technology is complex, the interaction should feel simple.

The idea

Turn infrastructure into an explorable story.

We created a 3D narrative system—a living, interactive globe that transforms Azure’s infrastructure into something users can navigate, discover, and understand intuitively.

Instead of telling people what Azure has built, we let them experience it.

The approach

1. Unify the story
We brought together sustainability, security, reliability, and innovation into one cohesive narrative—connecting what had previously been siloed.

2. Design for discovery
The experience allows users to explore Azure by region, topic, or capability—making a massive system feel approachable and personal.

3. Build a scalable storytelling system
A 3D visual language extended across web, film, and campaign assets—ensuring consistency across every touchpoint.

The experience

An immersive, interactive globe that:

  • Visualizes Azure’s global footprint in real time

  • Breaks down complex infrastructure into digestible layers

  • Lets users explore topics like sustainability, networking, and resiliency

  • Transforms passive learning into active exploration

The result is a system that makes the invisible visible—and the complex understandable.

My role

Creative Strategist / Creative Direction

  • Defined the narrative approach and experience vision

  • Led cross-functional collaboration across brand, engineering, and marketing

  • Shaped the storytelling system that unified global messaging

  • Guided creative execution across the 3D experience and supporting assets

The impact

  • Transformed a fragmented story into a single, cohesive experience

  • Increased accessibility of complex infrastructure topics

  • Elevated Azure’s perception as a leader in global cloud innovation

  • Created a scalable platform for ongoing storytelling and education

The Takeaway

When complexity is the product,
clarity becomes the creative.

This project wasn’t about visualizing infrastructure.
It was about reframing how people understand it.
